First-grader Posey is concerned that her spring vacation will be boring compared to her friends' travels, but her mother's plan to take each day as it comes turns out to be full of excitement.

First-grader Posey and her friends are excited about Halloween, but also a little nervous about trick-or-treating and eating Miss Lee's monster stew.

When Posey's first-grade class gets a new student named Grace, Posey worries that her friends will like the new girl more than they like her, until Posey realizes just how lonely Grace must feel and discovers that Grace could be more than just the new girl, if Posey gives her the chance.

Posey has asked Santa for a real magic wand, but when an accident leads her to tell a white lie, she begins to wonder if Santa will come at all.

For first-grader Posey, every school day is great until her teacher's birthday, when her best friend's gift of an enormous bouquet puts Posey's few, home-grown roses to shame.
