Description
Filmed in schools, childcare centers, libraries, research centers, and homes around the country, this series looks at different reading strategies that are helping young children learn to read. This episode highlights effective strategies to help kids understand--and care about--what they read, the ultimate goal of learning to read. Getting a book "inside your head," understanding it, and connecting it to your life and everything else you know is the ultimate purpose of reading. The good news is that to take what is read and make it one's own is a skill, which can be taught. Includes practical advice for parents, and highlights the best research-based reading strategies, interwoven with the personal stories of children learning to read
