Description
In 1966 Frank De Felitta made a documentary for NBC News about racism in the American South called "Mississippi: a self portrait". In this documentary, Booker Wright, an African American restaurant owner who also served double-duty as a waiter in a 'whites-only' restaurant in Mississippi, spoke openly about his experiences with racism and his treatment as a waiter serving the white community. Wright's appearance in the film set off a chain of events that eventually led to his untimely murder. "Booker's place" follows Raymond De Felitta, Frank De Fellita's son, and Yvette Johnson, Booker Wright's granddaughter, as they search for details surrounding Wright's courageous life and shocking murder, while also exploring the impact the film had on the local community and Frank De Felitta.
