Description
Governor Pieter Stuyvesant comes to New Amsterdam in 1647, and he is not prepared to countenance resistance to his rule. Young Brom Broeck is not prepared to accept authoritarian government. Stuyvesant cannot get rid of Brom; execution does not work, and neither do Stuyvesant's efforts to take away Brom's girl, Tina. Finally, Brom and Stuyvesant form an alliance to create democracy, a happy medium between dictatorship and mob rule.
