Description
Tales of terror: three stories adapted from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. In "Morella," a dying young woman tries to reconcile with her father, who has always blamed her for her mother's death during childbirth. In "The black cat," a man discovers his wife's affair and takes steps to remove his rival, only to have his wife's black cat reveal his evil deed. And In "The facts in the case of M. Valdemar," the dying M. Valdemar employs a hypnotist to put him in a trance to spare him the pain of dying. Instead, M. Valdemar winds up stuck between the world of the living and the dead, and under the control of the hypnotist.
Description
Twice told tales: based on three stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In "Dr. Heidegger's experiment," the doctor attempts to restore youth to three of his elderly friends. In "Rappaccini's daughter" a demented father inoculates his daughter with poison so that she may never leave her garden of poisonous plants. And in "House of the Seven Gables," the Pyncheon family suffers from a hundred year old curse.
Description
The abominable Dr. Phibes: after a team of surgeons botches his beloved wife's operation, the distraught Dr. Phibes seeks revenge by unleashing a series of Old Testament plagues on his enemies.
Description
Dr. Phibes rises again: Dr Phibes awakens from a decade of suspended animation and heads to Egypt with the corpse of his dead wife, which he intends to resurrect by murdering people in strange ways.
Description
Theater of blood: an egotistical actor exacts revenge on theater critics who denied him an important award by killing them in Shakespearian fashion.
Description
Madhouse: after the grisly murder of his fiancée, horror movie actor Paul Toombes suffers a breakdown. When he returns to television some twelve years later, he finds the cast and crew are being murdered in the same manner as characters in his old movies. Based on the novel "Devilday" by Angus Hall.
Description
Witchfinder General: during the Middle Ages, a self-proclaimed "witchfinder" goes from town to town, offering his services to superstitious villagers who pay him to wrench confessions from innocent women.
