Miss Jane Pittman is celebrating her 110th birthday. As the civil rights movement heats up, Miss Jane, a former slave, recounts her memories of the black experience from picking potatoes on a southern plantation to fetching water for soldiers in the Civil War to her views on the current and turbulent equal rights movement.

From 1963 to 1966, Murray Lerner visited the annual Newport Folk Festival to document a thriving, idealistic musical movement as it reached its peak as a popular phenomenon. Shooting in gorgeous black and white, Lerner juxtaposes performances with snapshot interviews with artists and their fans, weaving footage from four years of the festival into an intimate record of a pivotal time in music, and in American culture at large.

The tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 1970 celebrates the work of legendary folk singer and songwriter, Woody Guthrie, and has never been seen before. The star-studded event was a fundraiser for the California Chapter of The Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease, now known as the Hereditary Disease Foundation, as Woody died of Huntington's disease in 1967.
